I am in the works of purchasing a condominium. It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath unit with 1/2 laminate & 1/2 carpeted floors. It is in front of this big lake and has a full waterfront view. It is a pretty nice place for a great price.  I don't want to rent for the rest of my life and I have come to the point where I can afford to purchace a dwelling. Since the market is killer right now, and I have the funds it is time to buy.  I have my career at Boeing to thank for this. May it be a long lived career, like 20 something years or something like that.  Yes, I was trained as an artist, mainly in cartoons and animation. But I gained a full time career in Aerospace and that is working out real sweet and I won't trade it for anything.

Here is some new stuff I drew lately. Some side projects I am working on here and there.  These are Faceplates I drew up for this game thing I've been building in a little thing called RPG MakerVXAce. It is Matrix themed.  More indepth coverage can be found at my gallery on DeviantArt

I build airplanes but I still work on artwork too. Building airplanes is just much more profitable :D

DSM Character Redesigns

I got to thinking about my Deep Space Mayhem thing. And how horrible the design of Keerah is. I cannot stand it, so as I played in SWTOR, I started to blossom ideas. Finally! Some inspiration! I guess I just needed some sci-fi to get the imagination going. So I re-analized how I wanted her to look. Mainly, the hair ... I had to fix the hair. So now she will have a new hair style and probably her hair might be silvery white - which might add to the background of her character, I am not sure yet. When I get to colorizing this we shall see. Her outfit has some slight changes, no more tank top, it has some mid-riff armor. Some glitzy armbands and her pants wont have those silly Barbarella holes in them. Barberella is a funny movie but not on my character .... :p (yes I have the Barberella DVD).

I have also decided to give Lance a makeover. He won't change quite as much. But his infamous black coat is going to have a more "techy" look to it. Adding some greys and some lines with blocks here and there should break up the solid blackness of it and give it a more futuristic feel.

These are just the sketches. I'll probably be coloring them soon. Sketching for me is kind of like sculpting. I add some, erase some, bend some areas here and there. It just comes naturally.

Sketched with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil - I cannot stand normal pencils because the feel of a dulled pencil drives me up the frikken' wall!

President Visit's Boeing and some Artwork

The President of the USA visited Boeing yesterday! WhooHoo! It was very awesome! Building up to the visit the factory was all a buzz. I usually park in the lot that is right at the head of the main runway for Flight Line. I got to see 6 blackhawk helicopters land all in succession in front of me. WOW, that was a sight to see.

Since I work 2nd shift, I didn't get to see the festivities, but I did watch the company vids and stuff. Obama's visit was exciting and such an honor. I am so glad to be working for a company that hosts such events for world dignitaries and stuff. It is so exciting and just something proud to be a part of. Boeing makes airplanes for customers all over the world and sometimes embasadors and dignitaries come into the factory to tour and see their purchace or sometimes just to see the wonder that is an airline factory. Everyday I like coming into work and being able to walk under a 747-8, or peer inside the wheelwell of a 787. It is something you cannot describe.

Oh ... yeh, the art thing - I was trained as an artist: Animator, Cartoon illustrator, Graphic Desgin. But I really enjoy being with the airplanes. It pays well - is union, more stable and is a marvel all the time. I still create my artwork, I just no longer feel the pressure of HAVE TO - to survive. It is a very liberating feeling to accept a new profession and learn new things. Here's some art I have done recently:

Kel'Thuzad - "Your soul is Mine Now" a WIP sketch

"Wings" Designs I made for Cafe'Press shirts.
I got the shop on a 5 year deal from my Cintiq that I purchased. So I figured I might as well do something with it? My Cintiq WX was last year's tax return - and I absolutely love it!

Meria of the Fire Paw Clan

This is Meria (which roughly translates into "Rebellious" for an African girl name) She is for an idea of a game that I dreamed up. It is an RPG centered around the idea of dream of an alternate universe: one where humans were not the ones to evolve. Instead, other creatures evolved, like Hyenas, Lions, Elephants, and other things. This story focuses on the conflict of 2 top predators of the African plains, the Hyenas and the Lions. Although evolved into more ... humanoid type forms. They still wage brutal war against each other, as they always have, even when they were the beasts we currently know them as. Somewhere along the line the "Player" (meaning you) gets transported into this alternate universe. You encounter 2 key characters - Meria the fiesty and firey Hyena, and a Lone male Lion (whom I am still developing as a character atm ...) Your job is to hopefully bring a truce between these 2 creatures and make them work together to stop the Shadow Nemesis that threatens to destroy the world and the fabric of Space and Time itself! I was thinking it could translate into an MMO RPG someday, but I'm not going to go that big with it yet.

Meria is a Spotted Hyena, she is a Prey Stalker for her clan. She is strong willed and very independent. Her main duties are to hunt prey and scout the land and follow the herds. Her travels can take her a considerable distance from Clan territory. She is quite inquisitive and delights in learning new things. Being a Hyena, she detests the Lions. Her mother was killed by the Stillwater Pride. She has vowed vengeance on them.

I wanted to keep Meria's clothings simple, yet in an African Tribal plains fashion. Something more than a Caveman would wear, but less than modern man dresses in. African tribal women tend to adorn lots of necklaces, especially for ceremony. Also, some sturdy necklaces might make for slight armor. Preventing that "Death Neck Bite" that Lions are famous for. Hyenas have most of their strength in their neck, upper chest and shoulder area. So she has a fair amount of neck to put adornments on. Weaponry is to be kept simple too. I want to try to keep a Pre-Bronze age setting motif (kind of). So I am working with spears, clubs, and maaaaybe an axe.

I think I got the idea from a National Geographic film made around the time Lion King came out. It was specifically about Lions vs Hyenas. It is one of Nat Geos. more exciting and powerful documanteries. Here is a link to a YouTube clip highlighting some of the parts of Lions fighting Hyenas:

I want to note that I do not consider myself a "Furry". I simply happen to like to draw and dream up Anthro characters from time to time. I have been cyber-bullied and harassed maliciously once before simply because I was playing a Tauren in World of Warcraft and I made a dumb joke once. So yeh ... I know what that is all about and I am not part of it. One can have an appreciation for nature and it's fauna and still not be associated with some made-up cliche' class.

Dress Making

This is the dress I have been working on. What I did was, I bought a plain black dress from a 2nd hand store ($8.00) and then built all the pieces and parts around it. They are then sewn on, and the patterns on the pieces I uses fabric glue. The big glass beads are sewn on, and I added the chains and other trinkets. This is intended as a sort of costume / evening gown. It is something I could wear to Blizzcon, or maybe as a stylish "gothic" style dress somewhere. I call it a "lich" dress because my inspiration came from the Lich in the Warcraft game series.

This is the plain dress, and the pieces I cut out.

These are the pieces I made, they are in their various states.

The front view of the, pretty much completed Dress.

The Back view of the dress.

I am working on another dress after this one. It is Matrix themed - it is a black dress with "Code Rain" falling down on it. The "code rain" is going to be swarovski crystal rhinestones set on the dress in individual lines. The bottom trim has a band of green sequins. I purchased the rhinestones, I just have to wait a few weeks for them to come over here. It has much less sewing, but a lot of sparkly rhinestones. The effect will be stunning!

These are the sorts of things I can do besides illustrate.

Akasha Frostbite

Akasha Frostbite is a World of Warcraft Lich I made up. I use him in a in-game character story/comic I make using a private server setup. I also like to draw Akasha from time to time. Warcraft Liches are so fantasy whimsical and imaginative.
